Happy May – I’m back with another reading post! There are so many new releases coming out this month, so I thought I would share the books I’m anticipating the most. I’m throwing out the disclaimer that this list is by no means exhaustive and I have only read one of them so far, but the below books are the ones on my radar.
All Adults Here – Emma Straub
Emma Straub is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. I read Modern Lovers and The Vacationers and loved both of them, so this book has been on my TBR list as soon as it was announced. I love the way Straub writes about family dynamics – she hits the nail on the head. I’ve looked forward to reading this for months, so I can’t wait for May 5th when it comes out.
Big Summer – Jennifer Weiner
I haven’t read Jennifer Weiner, but I hear amazing things about her books – and many people are already raving over Big Summer. Her newest novel is a story about the complexities of female friendship: Daphne and Drue are ex-best friends and haven’t spoken for six years until Drue comes back into Daphne’s life with a big favor to ask. I’m looking forward to picking this up as a light summer read (get it?) when it comes out later this month.
Rodham – Curtis Sittenfeld
When many of us think of HRC, we sigh and think about what-might-have-been. I know I do. Well, that’s exactly what Curtis Sittenfeld explores in Rodham – but not in the way you think. In her newest book, Sittenfeld weaves fiction with historical events to show what Hillary Rodam’s life might have been if she had not married Bill Clinton. I’m interested to see how it plays out. I read Sittenfeld’s Prep back when I was in high school and loved it, so I’m excited to read more of her work. Rodham is expected on May 19.
The Paris Hours – Alex George
I listed this book in my April 2020 reading blog post yesterday. At the risk of sounding redundant, I’ll just say that picking The Paris Hours as my Book of the Month was a great choice. We won’t be traveling anytime soon, so I would recommend picking up this book if you want to feel like you’re time traveling to the City of Lights. This book is expected on May 5th.
Thanks for reading! Leave a comment to let me know of any upcoming releases you are excited about.
