Today’s post is all about Christmas Outfit Ideas, with 7 ways to add holiday cheer to your look! The holidays might be my favorite season for clothes, because there are so many elements that I love: red, gold, plaid, etc. People tell me a lot that I’m good at dressing in festive wear (and I don’t disagree). So, I thought it would be fun to share some ideas on how to incorporate these into outfits!
P.S. @Netflix, please let me be a stylist for your Christmas movies.
Let’s get into the list!
1. Add Texture with Velvet
This is for the folks who aren’t really into red and green tartan like I am. An all-black outfit with some velvet is a great way for you to add texture and feel more put together. If you want casual, there are tons of options for velvet joggers or pull-on pants that are cute and cozy. If you want to dress up a little, try wearing a velvet dress over a black turtleneck for a 90s-inspired vibe.
2. Red Lipstick
Red lipstick is kind of a given. Pre-COVID, I wore red lipstick almost every day during December. It’s by far my favorite lipstick color. Just be sure to pick a lipstick that won’t smudge under your mask! This one is my favorite – it stays on with no smudges all day, even under my mask.
3. Classic Colors – Red and Green
I wrote a post yesterday about my love for this red and green tartan skirt. If you’re like me and you love going all out with your holiday look, consider a piece of clothing (like this skirt) that has both red and green. It’s fun and festive, what more could you ask for?
4. Put a Bow on it
A simple way to make an all-black ensemble more festive is adding a red ribbon bow to your hair! As you can see, I like to tie a bow around my low ponytail with my bangs framing my face. I also love to add ribbon to a high ponytail! It looks especially great if you have long hair.
5. Add a Touch of Gold
In my opinion, the holidays are the time of year where you can wear gold glitter eyeliner all day, every day. I love the combination of neutral makeup, gold eyeliner, and red lipstick. We all could use some sparkle this year.
6. Festive Face Masks
It wouldn’t be 2020 if I didn’t include festive face masks! My favorite face masks of all time are the tartan ones from J. Crew! These are the best-fitting and most comfortable masks that I’ve worn all year. Plus, the ruffle details are adorable. I get compliments on them all the time.
7. Time for Tartan
Tartan is standard during the holidays. But for a new twist on the plaid pattern, may I suggest checking out my post on J. Crew’s pink tartan?
I hope you enjoyed these Christmas outfit ideas! Let me know in the comments what you plan to wear. May your holiday be merry & bright π
