It’s hard to be(LEAF) that October has come and gone, but November brings a fresh start. Autumn is my favorite season and with the beginning of a new month, I wanted to set my intentions and share some fun things that made my to-do list for November.
1. Vote!
First and foremost on my list is voting! I will be voting in-person on Election Day tomorrow. My original plan was to vote early in person, but that changed when the lines at the Board of Elections were astronomically long… Plus, my polling location is conveniently only a couple of blocks away from my apartment. If you haven’t voted yet, please make a plan to vote! (And please vote blue π)
2. Bake a pie
I’ve never made a pie before, but I am determined to bake one this year for Thanksgiving. They are a bit intimidating to a novice baker like myself, but that’s what YouTube tutorials are for. I haven’t decided what kind I’d like to make yet, so please send any good recipes my way!
3. Clean out my closet
I try to clean out and organize my closet about once every season. I’m definitely due for another cleaning and organizing session.
4. Embark on a cold-weather hike
I’m not a fan of super-cold weather, but I do enjoy a sunny, crisp autumn day. Those days are the absolute best for hiking. I want to try to make it out to some local metro parks and state parks before it becomes too freezing to even think about going outside.
5. Watch fall movies
I know rainy and cold November days are coming, so I came up with a list of movies to watch when I want to curl up and be cozy. Here are my picks:
- Dead Poets Society
- When Harry Met Sally
- St. Elmo’s Fire
- You’ve Got Mail
- Little Women
- Mona Lisa Smile
It’s a mix of movies I have and haven’t seen before, but I chose these because they exude ~fall vibes~
6. Have a beer tasting party (for two)
This just sounds really fun to me. Tasting craft beer and snacking on appetizers (I’m thinking pretzel bites…) sounds like the perfect cozy Friday date night. I can’t explain it, but I’m more in the mood for beer when colder weather rolls around. An added bonus is that I’ll be supporting local Columbus breweries!
7. Start my holiday shopping…
This one is pretty self-explanatory. I always intend to start my shopping early, but the holidays always sneak up on me. This year, I am making a goal to purchase gifts for my family and friends in the most ethical and eco-friendly ways that I can. I know I won’t be perfect, but making small changes when I can is an important step to making a difference. I especially want to try to support local businesses, who have been hard by the economic effects of this pandemic. Where you spend your money matters!
Thanks for reading my list! I hope I inspired you to create your own to-do list or try something new this month.
